West Haven, Utah Information
Located approximately 35 miles north of Salt Lake City and west of the Wasatch Mountains, West Haven is a city in Weber County, Utah. Named the fastest growing city in the state in 2009, the city offers some of the most scenic views in Utah. The Weber and Ogden Rivers join together in the northwestern portion of the city. To its south, the city is bordered by Roy; to the west by Hooper; to the east by Ogden and to the north by Marriott-Slaterville. The city has a total area of 10.2 square miles, all of which is land. Mormon settlers first came to the area as early as 1854, with the first Church of Latter Day Saints Ward being founded in 1882.

With its proximity to both the mountains and river, the community provides ample opportunity for outdoor sports and recreation no matter the season. You can boat, fish and swim in the warmer months and ski in the colder months.
To get an up close with the outdoors, visit the Ogden Nature Center. Located in beautiful Ogden, Utah, the Ogden Nature Center is an easy drive from West Haven. The 152-acre nature preserve and education center was created in 1975.
History buffs are sure to enjoy the community’s historical markers, including Muskrat Springs. The city’s 40-acre park, outfitted with sports fields and playground equipment, is also home to a historical marker.
As of the 2014 census, the city is home to 11,582 people. The number of occupied homes in the municipality is 3,200, with 2,595 families residing here. Average family size is 3.52 persons and the median age of those living in the city is 28.
Much of the city is zoned for commercial development, primarily along state highway 1900 West and near the 21st Street/Wilson Lane exit on Interstate 15. Businesses serving the community include small shops as well as larger stores.
There are even a few working farms in the municipality that date back to the 1800s.
The 48th largest community in Utah, the city has several planned subdivisions, including Colby Creek Estates; Pheasent Cove; and Stone Creek Village.
Each subdivision offers newly constructed single family homes with prices that begin in the $300,000. Owners are able to customize their homes and there are both rambler and two-story floor plans available for purchase.
A young municipality, West Haven was incorporated on July 1, 1991, when the unincorporated communities of Kanesville and Wilson combined to form the city. A citywide sewer system was installed in 2002. Plans call for the construction of what will be called River Parkway Trail, which will include a fishing bridge, pedestrian tunnel, picnic tables and other outdoor seating. It will eventually link up to the Weber County Centennial Trail.
According to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau report, the median household income in the city is $75,264. West Haven boasts a mix of both single and multi-family dwellings and condos. The number of housing units that are owner occupied is 70.9 percent and most property owners pay between $2,000 and $3,000 annually in property taxes.
Comprised mostly of single-family homes, the city in recent years has seen an uptick in the number of multi-story, multi-family homes being built within its borders. The median property value is $265,400. The average price for a detached 3-bedroom, 2-bath home is $228,784. Town homes and other attached units sell for an average of $162,854 while duplexes run at $143,656. The average cost of a 3-bedroom, 2-bath rental unit is $1,040 per month.
